Blackbiird and Beyonce's newfound meaning.

let's talk about Beyonce and how she is once again exceeded everyone's music expectations with her newly released "Cowboy Carter" album and the song "blackbiird".

If you didn't know, blackbird was originally written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney during the civil rights movement and specifically because of the way many white Americans were treating the little rock nine. McCartney even said something along the lines of wanting to create a song to uplift black women specifically and encourage them to keep fighting. you can learn more about the meaning here.

Now in 2024, we see a powerful black woman in music like Beyonce, not only take on this song, but then on top of that put black women country singers by the names of Britnney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy on the song! Imagine how empowering it must feel to be able to sing the very song about uplifting black women through hardships as you reside in a genre and industry that doesn't really show much love to you.

In the past 2 years, we have seen black artists reclaim spots in genres and sounds that were originally made by us. Beyonce even chimes in by saying "(it) ain't a country album, this is a BeyoncĂ© album,", which shows that Beyonce to doesn't have to prove anything to make country. because she is a black woman from the country.

once again, Beyonce never fails to amaze me with her musical capabilities.
